Running in admin mode can't hurt, either (don't see how it would fix the problem but you can never be too safe).

I'd update your graphics card drivers and maybe reinstall the game.

I've never encountered that error but looks to be either a driver or engine issue. Just thought I'd mention as most videos of the PC version on YouTube have the stretched HUD and zoomed-in camera so I'm not sure if it's common knowledge. You don't need this for modern systems as the game runs fine as is, but it's very useful as otherwise the game will seem too zoomed in. Most of you don't need to worry about this, but any PC gamers such as myself who got into this habit will find this information useful.įinally: although this guide is for SC1 and PT, Chaos Theory also has it's own widescreen fix available here. I got in the habit of doing this as it speeds up a lot of games, but for some reason doing it here causes the widescreen fix to mess up. Oh, and make sure not to check 'Disable Fullscreen Optimisations' in the Windows compatibility tab. Though it's completely up to you if you trust me on that.

To circumvent this you'll need to add an exception to your anti-virus.Ī lot of antivirus software hates dgVoodoo2 but I've had it for years without problem and it's been used widespread to play older games as they were intended, which you can see for yourself just by searching around and seeing it discussed on many game preservation forums.

dll files to emulate older game functions (essentially how it can render the lighting properly in the first two Splinter Cells). zip of dgVoodoo2 and go into the 'MS' folder, then extract D3D8.dll to the 'system' folder of the game.ĭONE! Though keep in mind that your antivirus may delete the D3D8.dll file without telling you (like mine did) as it thinks it's a virus. This can trigger anti-virus - explanation at the bottom of the post: Only attempt these if the widescreen fix didn't do it for you (you'll know if the game's lighting looks off, a great way to tell is if objects around the environment cast shadows. Normally this is handled by the fix, but some admin/anti-virus systems can block it like mine did. NOTE: I only had to do these next two because my system barred the widescreen fix from installing the lighting fix (dgVoodoo2).

Click HERE for Splinter Cell, and HERE for Pandora Tomorrow. Optionally, download the hi-res textures from the PS3 HD remake version of the game and extract them to the 'textures' folder in your game directory. The fix might want to update after running the game for the first time, so just let it do it's thing: extract the 'system' folder from the widescreen fix to the same 'system' folder in the game directory). Merge folders with the same name and replace all files or it won't work (e.g. Second, download the fix for your game out of the choices on this page, extract to the game directory.Quicksaves may also break if you don't do this on Windows 10. The widescreen fix may not update properly otherwise.

exe where you installed it) and tick 'run as administrator', then click OK. Right click on the desktop shortcut (or find the game. Patches can be found on the PCGamingWiki article for each game. Make sure your game is patched to the latest verion. SecuROM is notorious for not working at all on Windows 10, so I feel it's justified to find a cracked. Also, the retail version of Pandora Tomorrow uses SecuROM DRM measures. Obviously I can't tell you where to 'obtain' SC:PT, that part you can figure out, but I can list some instructions for getting it working properly on PC. This works for Splinter Cell and Pandora Tomorrow, the latter of which isn't available to buy digitally. This will also fix the game minimizing automatically with the widescreen fix! Saw a lot of posts asking these types of questions so hope to help out. I have opened an issue here if you would like to track when it's okay to let it update itself again:

Ignore the updater telling you there's a new version of DgVoodoo2 until the fix is resolved. Move the 'D3D8.dll' file into the 'system' folder of the game's installation. To fix, follow the instructions below as normal, but then download DgVoodoo2 v2.55.1 (older version, scroll down on the site to see it) and go into the 'MS' folder in the zip you downloaded. The newest version of DgVoodoo2 may not be compatible with the widescreen fix for Splinter Cell 1 (and possibly Pandora Tomorrow).
